About First State Bank
Locally Owned and Operated
Since 1974, we’ve been more than a bank. We’ve been a neighbor, a supporter, and a steady hand when it matters most. We hope your experience with us leaves you feeling supported and a little more confident in your financial future.
Watonga’s Hometown Bank
Since 1974, we’ve proudly called this community home. Our combination of service, relationships, and expertise has been the foundation of our shared success. As Watonga’s only locally owned bank, we keep banking personal and reinvest in what matters most: you.
Our History
Roots Run Deep — Our Commitment Runs Deeper
Named for Arapaho Chief Wa-ton-gah (Black Coyote), our home has always been shaped by resilience, community, and tradition. What began as a tent city in the Oklahoma Land Run in 1892 grew into the heart of Blaine County and a thriving community supported by local pillars like our legacy institution, Blaine County Bank, chartered in 1901 by pioneering leaders like T.B. Ferguson, Oklahoma’s sixth Territorial Governor and founder of the Watonga Republican newspaper.
First State Bank was founded in 1974 from that same pioneering spirit and a promise to make a difference by putting our community first. For over 50 years, we’ve honored the traditions of community banking as the partner and neighbor families, farms, and businesses depend on. Today, we stand as Watonga’s remaining locally owned and operated bank and proudly display BCB’s original charter as a reminder of the legacy we carry forward. Our deepest roots are here and our commitment to the future we’re building together has never been stronger.
